This summer, a remarkable live event is coming to Cornish Mining World Heritage Sites across Cornwall. Adventurers in Music sees the fusion of theatre and brass and silver band music, in a new piece of writing looking at Cornish copper mining in the 1860s.
A new piece of work by Jane Pugh, with original brass and silver band scores composed by Simon Dobson, Adventurers in Music follows the story of Matthew, a thinker, and those around him, we see the effects of copper mining on their community.
With live performance, live bands, music workshops, as well as opportunities to take part in the action as community performers, Adventurers in Music is set to be a remarkable and free day out for all the family.
Delivered by Cornish theatre company Near-ta Theatre in association with Cornish Mining World Heritage, the Arts Council of England and Wales, and Cornwall Arts Centre Trust, public performances of this new, exciting piece of work are taking place in early June 2013 at Cornish Mining World Heiritage Sites. The piece is also being developed into a radio play and audio trail that will be available for download through this website.
